Updated COVID Masks

Posted on 06/07/2021

Dear Johnsburg Central School Community,

As has been reported by news outlets, on Friday afternoon, Dr. Howard Zucker, New York State Commissioner of Health issued a letter to the Centers for Disease Control (CDC) regarding differing mask policies for summer camps and schools. Media coverage of this letter has led to some confusion.

Johnsburg Central School has been informed today by the New York State Department of Education that the letter has not changed any existing arrangements. Therefore, schools need to continue to operate under their existing procedures until further notice.

Mask policies include requirements for mask use on school buses, in school hallways, and on playgrounds are still in place.  Tomorrow night at the Johnsburg Central School Board meeting we will discuss this matter as a Board to see how we will proceed.

If additional guidance is released, we will contact you with full details. Should you have questions or concerns please do not hesitate to contact our COVID-19 coordinators Mr. Markwica or Mrs. Flanagan.

So please make sure tomorrow you still come to school with your mask on, and if you do not have one we will provide you with one.

Thank you for your cooperation,

Mr. Markwica
